Israeli forces detained, on Wednesday evening, five Palestinian civilians from the Bab al-Amoud or Damascus Gate, one of the main gates leading to the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, the Palestinian News & Information Agency (WAFA) reported.
WAFA correspondent stated that soldiers assaulted two young Palestinian men before detaining them, and occupation police detained another three Palestinian civilians, for unknown reasons.
On Tuesday night, Israeli police attacked Palestinian civilians who assembled at the Damascus Gate to celebrate the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
WAFA correspondent reported that occupation police attacked Palestinian civilians with batons, and fired rubber-coated steel rounds and concussion grenades at unarmed Palestinians who gathered at the site.
Police detained 12 Palestinian young men, and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that at least one Palestinian was treated for injuries inflicted by the occupation police.
