Israeli Forces Detonate Palestinian Prisoner’s Family Home, Shoot Three, Detain One

Israeli forces detonated, early Saturday morning, the home of a Palestinian prisoner in the village of Al-Silat Al-Harithiya, northwest of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank, local sources reported.

According to witnesses, dozens of military vehicles invaded the village after midnight, cordoned off the home of Palestinian prisoner Omar Jaradat, forcing the family to evacuate, and proceeded to plant explosives inside.

Locals reported that at 6 in the morning, they heard a loud explosion, and concrete debris eject outward, collapsing the roof of the prisoner’s home.

During the military incursion large numbers of Palestinian youths confronted the army by throwing rocks, while resistance fighters fired at military vehicles.

At least three young men were shot with live rounds, one of whom was shot in the thigh, which required emergency surgery. The wounded were transferred to Ibn Sina Specialized Hospital in Jenin.

Israeli authorities allege that Omar, his brothers Ataf and Ghaith, who are also imprisoned, and his uncle Muhammad killed an illegal Israeli settler near Burqa village, northwest of Nablus in the northern part of the West Bank on December 16, 2021.

This is the fourth home belonging to the Jaradat family in the recent past, in clear acts of collective punishment, forbidden under International Law.

Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states;

Pillage is prohibited.

Reprisals against protected persons and their property are prohibited.

Meanwhile, occupation soldiers assaulted and detained a Palestinian young man identified as Muhammad Nasser Abu Salah, while he was on his own property in the village.
