Israeli Forces Shoot and Kill a Palestinian Teen, Injure 88 in Nablus

Israeli soldiers shot and killed, on Tuesday, a Palestinian teen, and injured 88 more during a military incursion into the eastern part of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, according to local sources.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed the death of 16-year-old Ghaith Rafiq Yamin, after occupation forces shot him in the head with a live round during a settler incursion into the Joseph’s Tomb area of Nablus.

The seriously injured teen was rushed to Rafidia Governmental Hospital in Nablus, where medical personnel pronounced his death from the severe gunshot wound.

Occupation forces, providing protection for busloads of illegal colonizers, opened fire with live rounds, rubber-coated steel rounds, concussion grenades, and tear gas canisters at the local Palestinian civilians who protested the invasion.

Local youths burned tires, threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at the more than 30 military vehicles that invaded the area.

It was also reported that Palestinian resistance fighters opened fire at the invading Israeli army, however no injuries among the occupation forces was noted.

At least 88 other Palestinian civilians were injured during the violent confrontations, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

According to the director of the ambulance and emergency services of the PRCS, Ahmed Jibril, 19 Palestinians were shot with rubber-coated steel rounds, 67 suffered the toxic effects of tear gas inhalation, one was struck and burned with a tear gas canister, and another fell from a high place.

A pregnant woman was transferred to Rafidia Hospital after suffering exposure to tear gas. During the transfer, occupation forces fired tear gas canisters directly at the ambulance, resulting in paramedics sustaining inhalation injuries.

Crowds of mourners, on Wednesday, collected the body of the slain teen from the Rafidia Governmental Hospital, a number of men carried the body on their soldiers to the Nablus city center.

Mourners performed the funeral prayer at Martyrs Square, proceeded to his family home in Ras al-Ain for a final goodbye, and then buried the slain child in the western cemetery.
