Israeli occupation forces shot and killed, on Friday, a 15 -year-old Palestinian minor in Al-Khader village, south of Bethlehem in the southern occupied West Bank, the Ministry of Health has confirmed.
The child, identified as Zaid Muhammad Saeed Ghoneim, 15, was shot dead by the Israeli occupation forces in the village of Al-Khader, south of Bethlehem, according to a statement by the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH).
The statement added that soldiers shot the child with at least 2 live rounds, striking him in the neck and the back. The boy was transferred to a local hospital after sustaining life-threatening wounds and later pronounced dead by the medical team.
According to eyewitnesses, Ghoneim, a grade nine student, was present in the village when soldiers invaded, he attempted to find shelter in a parking garage when he was targeted by Israeli troops.
After the killing of the child, Palestinian youths held protests condemning the murder, triggering the occupation forces to open fire at protestors.
During the demonstrations, soldiers fired live round, rubber-coated steel rounds, and tear gas canisters at the Palestinian youths, and injured several people.
Sources stated that one young man was hot with a live round in the foot, 3 more were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets, while many others suffered the toxic effects of tear gas inhalation.
A Palestinian government spokesman quoted the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shtayyeh, stating that the Israeli forces “continue to target the upper parts of the bodies of Palestinian children with the aim of killing.“
The statement added that the incident was “a terrorist act that requires the activation of international resolutions to boycott Israel and to ensure that the perpetrators do not go unpunished.“
