Israeli Army Injures Dozens of Palestinians at Protests Across the Occupied West Bank

Israeli forces suppressed, on Friday, several non-violent protests across the occupied West Bank, injuring many Palestinian civilians, according to local sources.

In the northern West Bank village of Kufur Qaddoum, east of Qalqilia, soldiers opened fire with rubber-coated steel rounds, concussion grenades and tear gas canisters at the unarmed civilians which included international activists.

Morad Eshteiwi, the media spokesman for the “Fatah” movement, stated that occupation soldiers shot and injured 7 Palestinian civilians with rubber-coated steel rounds, and caused dozens more to suffer the toxic effects of teargas inhalation.

Eshteiwi added that soldiers stationed themselves on the rooftops of local homes to fire at the demonstrators, while young men hurled rocks towards the invading army.

Dozens of participants performed the Friday prayer at the Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Mosque in the village, and then began the weekly procession marching towards the closed main street.

Locals have been gathering every week for more than a decade to pressure the occupation state of Israel to reopen the main street of the village and to express their rejection of the ongoing Israeli colonization of Palestinian lands.

In 2003, the occupation state of Israel closed the main street to the village in favor of the illegal colonial settlers, at the expense of the local Palestinian population.

The closure of the main street forces the locals to resort to taking longer routes to travel to Nablus city, which is the closest commercial center.

Meanwhile, in the northern West Bank town of Beita, south of Nablus, Israeli forces caused injuries to at least 5 Palestinian protestors who gathered to express their rejection of the ongoing colonial activities of the occupation state, medical sources confirmed.

According to Ahmad Jibril, the director of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Emergency and Ambulance service, one young man was shot and injured with a rubber-coated steel round, while at least 4 more suffered inhalation injuries from tear gas exposure.

Meanwhile, in Beit Dajan village, east of Nablus, the army attacked another peaceful demonstration to condemn the illegal expropriation of Palestinian lands, causing at least 14 injuries.

Soldiers opened fire with rubber-coated steel rounds, striking and injuring 3, in addition to firing tear gas canisters which led burn injuries to one young man and caused at least 12 more to sustain inhalation injuries.

The locals in theses areas have organized weekly marches to condemn and resist the illegal Israeli colonization of Palestinian lands.

Furthermore, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank, Palestinians confronted the Israeli occupation army near the military roadblock at the entrance of al-Shuhada Street in Hebron.

Soldiers opened fire with rubber-coated steel rounds, concussion grenades, and tear gas canisters, shooting and injuring one young man in the foot, while dozens more sustained inhalation injuries from tear gas exposure.

The young man who was shot was transferred to hospital for medical intervention, while all the others were treated at the scene by local medics.

South of Hebron, in the community of Masafer Yatta, locals gathered to protest against the Israeli scheme to displace hundreds of Palestinians from the area.
