Occupation Forces Injure Several Palestinians Including a Paramedic and a Journalist in the West Bank

Israeli forces attacked anti-settlement protests, on Friday, across the occupied West Bank, injuring several Palestinian demonstrators in addition to shooting a paramedic in the face with a tear gas canister, local sources reported.

In the northern West Bank village of Kufur Qaddoum, east of Qalqilia, soldiers opened fire with rubber-coated steel rounds, shooting and injuring 9 Palestinians who participated in the weekly procession, according to the media spokesman for the Wall & Colonization Resistance Commission, Morad Eshteiwi.

Eshteiwi added that soldiers fired tear gas canisters at the non-violent protestors, causing dozens to suffer the toxic effects of tear gas inhalation, including a Palestine TV reporter identified as Anal Al-Jada.

It was reported that all injuries were given first aid by local medics on site.

Since 2011, locals in the region have gathered every Friday to demand that the Israeli occupation authorities reopen the main road into Kufur Qaddoum village which was closed in 2001 in favor of illegal colonial settlers.

The closure of the road has forced Palestinians in the area to take longer routes to reach Nablus city, the nearest commercial center, while accommodating settlers living in adjacent illegal colonies.

Meanwhile, in the northern West Bank village of Beit Dajan, east of Nablus city, Israeli forces suppressed another peaceful protest, and injured dozens of protestors and a volunteer medic.

According to Ahmed Jibril, the Nablus director of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society emergency and ambulance services, a volunteer paramedic was targeted by occupation forces and shot directly in the face with a tear gas canister fired at a high velocity.

The young man, identified as Anan Alawi, was transferred to a nearby hospital for medical intervention.

Jibril added that several non-violent demonstrators suffered inhalation injuries from exposure to tear gas.

Furthermore, in Qaryout village, south of Nablus, illegal Israeli colonists attempted to invade a natural water spring, which local citizens responded to by confronting them.

Israeli occupation soldiers, providing security for the colonizers, opened fire with concussion grenades and tear gas canisters at the Palestinians trying to protect their land, causing several people to suffer the toxic effects of tear gas inhalation.

In related context, Israeli troops stormed, on Friday at dawn, Qabatiya town south of Jenin, and the village of Muthalth ash-Shuhada, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank. local sources reported.

The invasion triggered confrontations between Israeli forces and Palestinian youths who resisted the incursion, which soldiers responded to by firing live rounds and tear gas canisters at those who protested.

Soldiers shot one Palestinian young man in the thigh with a live round, and caused many others to suffer inhalation injuries as a result of tear gas inhalation.

The young man’s identity and condition was not known at the time of this report.
