Palestinian Teen Dies of Critical Wounds Inflicted by Israeli Forces Near Jenin


Medical sources announced, on Sunday, the death of a Palestinian youth, after he was shot and seriously injured by Israeli forces near Jenin, in the northern occupied West Bank, less than 24 hours earlier.

According to the medical director of the Ibn Sina hospital in Jenin city, Jani Abu Jokha, the Palestinian teen, identified as Kamel Abdallah Alwaneh, 19, died on Sunday, after sustaining a critical injury during an Israeli military incursion into Jaba’ village, southwest of Jenin.

Israeli forces invaded Jaba’ village, on Saturday evening, sparking protests among Palestinian youths who confronted the army, who opened fire with live rounds and tear gas canisters, shooting Alwaneh in the abdomen and the hand with live ammunition.

Dozens of other youths suffered the toxic effects of tear gas inhalation during the military incursion into the town.

The critically injured teen was rushed to the Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin city, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit, where he succumbed to his wounds.

It is important to mention that the slain young man was named after his brother Kamel, who was also killed in 2003 by the Israeli army.

Sources stated that the father of the two martyrs is a former prisoner who spent many years in occupation prisons.

The Palestinian Ministry of foreign Affairs and Expatriates denounced the army’s murder of the teen, and held the Israeli authorities fully accountable for the crime itself in addition to any consequences which arise as a result.

Beginning from the Ibn Sina hospital in Jenin, several mourners carried on their shoulders, the body of the slain youth, which was wrapped in a Palestinian flag and the flag of the Fateh movement.

Thousands of mourners the streets marched the streets chanting “God is the greatest” and vowing to redeem the death of the young man (martyr/shahid).

The body was brought to the youth’s family home for a final goodbye, and the body was laid to rest in the Jaba’ village cemetery.

According to the Israel/Palestine Timeline, 68 Palestinian civilians have been killed by Israeli occupation forces since the beginning of the year 2022.

In related news, Israeli forces shot another Palestinian young man, at the al-Hamra military roadblock, north of Jericho in the eastern part of the occupied West Bank.

The injured young man, identified as Ayed Nayef Ka’abneh, 25, was shot by Israeli forces while he tried to pass through the checkpoint, according to Hassan Mleihat, the General-Supervisor of al-Baydar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights.

The details of the injury and condition of the young man were unknown at the time of this report.
