Israeli Army Detains Several Palestinians in the Occupied West Bank


Israeli forces detained, on Wednesday, several Palestinian civilians and injured many others in separate areas of the occupied West Bank, local sources reported.

In northern part of the West Bank, a large military force, consisting of 70 armored vehicles, a bulldozer and several Israeli troops, invaded the Jenin refugee camp, which sparked protests among local youths.

The army deployed snipers on the rooftops of civilian homes, and fired tear gas canisters at protestors, causing several civilians to suffer inhalation injuries, while the army blocked ambulance crews from entering.

Two young men, identified as Kamel Fakhri Huwail and Majdi Awni Huwail, were detained for several hours and. later released, while three young men, identified as Issam Muhammad Abu Khalifa, Suhaib Issa al-Ghoul, and Imad Omar Abu al-Heija were taken into custody by Israeli forces.

Awni al-Shakhshir

At dawn Wednesday, soldiers invaded many homes and detained Awni al-Shakhshir and Muntasir al-Shannar from their homes in Nablus city, in the northern occupied West Bank.

In the central part of the West Bank, occupation soldiers detained four Palestinian young men from the Ramallah and Al-Biereh governorate, including three former prisoners.

Sources identified the detainees as Mustafa Orabi Nakhleh, a former prisoner, from the Al-Jalazoun refugee camp, north of Ramallah, and Muhammad Izzat Hammad, 30, from Silwad town, northeast of the city.

Additionally, soldiers detained the former prisoner Assem Al-Kaabi from Al-Biereh, and Ahmed Bagis Hajjaj, a former prisoner, from Beit Rima town, northwest of Ramallah, after invading and searching their family homes.

Meanwhile, Israeli troops stormed and searched the home of Muhammad Adnan Taha, in Qatana town, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, before detaining him.

Furthermore, in the southern part of the West Bank, the army detained another two Palestinian civilians in the Bethlehem governorate.

Soldiers detained a former prisoner, identified as Muhammad Mustafa al-Najjar from the al-Azza refugee camp, also known as the Beit Jibrin camp, north of Bethlehem, in addition to Nasser Shusha from Husan town, to the west of the city.

In related news, on Tuesday night, the army stormed the Al-Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron in the southern West Bank, and fire tear gas canisters at Palestinian civilians and their homes.

Local youths protested the military incursion, which led to soldiers occupying the rooftops of civilian homes and firing tear gas canisters, which resulted in a number of citizens, including children, suffering the toxic effects of tear gas.
