Israeli forces shot and killed, on Saturday, a Palestinian young man near the illegal Apartheid wall, located southeast of Qalqilia in the northern occupied West Bank, the Ministry of Health confirmed.
Soldiers stationed at the military checkpoint “109” southeast of Qalqilia, opened fire at an unarmed Palestinian young man, who was on his way to his workplace inside of Israel (the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948).
According to witnesses at the scene, the young man, identified as Rabi Arafa Rabi, 32, was in the vicinity of the separation wall when a member of the Israeli army shot him in the head.
The seriously injured young man was transferred to the Darwish Nazzal Governmental Hospital in Qalqilia for treatment, however he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
It is important to mention that, according to the young man’s father, Rabi was planning his wedding for next week.
On Sunday, hundreds of mourners gathered in front of the Darwish Nazzal Governmental Hospital, carried the body of the slain young man on their shoulders, towards the family home, where relatives payed their last respects.
The procession continued to the Abu Ubaida Mosque where the funeral prayer was performed, before the body of the young man was laid to rest in the martyrs’ cemetery in the city.
