Israeli Forces Kill Two Palestinians, Including a Child, Injure Four in the Jenin Refugee Camp

Israeli occupation forces shot and killed, on Thursday, two Palestinians, including a child, and injured four others, during a military invasion of the Jenin refugee camp, in the northern West Bank, the Ministry of Health confirmed.

Israeli special forces isolated the home of Palestinian resistance fighter, identified as Farouk Jamil Hassan Salameh, 28, whose wedding was scheduled for Saturday.

Salameh was one of the leaders of the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, a resistance group known as the “Al-Quds Brigades”.

Resistance fighters exchanged fire with the army and civilians protested the incursion, which soldiers responded to be opening live fire.

Soldiers shot Salameh in the head, chest, and abdomen and was rushed to the Jenin Governmental Hospital in critical condition, where resuscitation attempts by medical staff failed, the Ministry of Health confirmed.

During the ensuing confrontations, a child, identified as Mohammad Samer Khlouf, 14, from the town of Burqin, just west of Jenin, was shot and killed by the occupation army.

Among the four others injured was Ihab Salameh, the brother of the slain Salameh, as well as Tawfiq Al-Shalabi, and a woman and her 8-year-old daughter, according to the Ministry.

The wounded civilians were transferred to hospital for medical intervention, their conditions were described as stable.

An army spokesperson indicated that “security forces are carrying out military activity in Jenin camp.”

The West Bank and Gaza Strip have been under military occupation by the state of Israeli since 1948. Palestinian citizens subject to demolitions, displacement, oppression, and physical harm, even death, carried out by the Israeli army as well as illegal colonial settlers.
