Israeli Forces Shoot and Kill a Palestinian Youth, Injure 60, in Nablus

Israeli forces shot and killed, on Wednesday at dawn, a 17-year-old Palestinian, and injured 60 others, while providing security for illegal settlers as they stormed “Joseph’s Tomb”, in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, local sources reported.

Hundreds of illegal Israeli settlers, including Knesset members of the occupation government, invaded the “Joseph’s Tomb” area, in the eastern part of Nablus, under the full protection of the Israeli army.

The settler incursion into the area, which is under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, sparked protests from local Palestinians who threw stones at the army, as well as an exchange of fire with armed Palestinian resistance fighters.

Soldiers opened fire with live rounds, rubber-coated steel rounds, and tear gas canisters, injuring dozens of young men, one seriously.

According to the director of the Palestinian Emergency and Ambulance services, Ahmed Jibril, one young man was critically injured after being shot with a live round in the chest.

The young man was transferred to a Nablus hospital, where he was pronounced deceased from the life-threatening wounds he sustained.

The slain young man was identified as 17-year-old Mahdi Muhammad Hamdallah Hashash, from the nearby Balata refugee camp.

Jibril added that medical crews treated three young men who were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets, and fifty-seven who suffered the toxic effects of tear gas inhalation.
