Israeli forces killed, on Monday, a Palestinian teen and injured four others during a military invasion into the northern West Bank city of Jenin, the Ministry of Health confirmed.
Local sources reported that a dozens of army vehicles carrying a large military force stormed the city and besieged a Palestinian-owned home, sparking protests from local youths.
Soldiers fired live rounds, tear gas canisters and concussion grenades at protestors and employed snipers on the rooftops of civilian homes.
Armed Palestinian resistance fighters exchanged fire with the occupation army during the military incursion.
Soldiers surrounded the home of Ratib Al-Bali in the al-Hadaf area of Jenin, fired live ammunition and ‘Energa’ anti-tank grenades at the home, causing damage, and injuring at least five with live rounds.
A Palestinian high-school student, identified as Mahmoud Abdel-Jalil Al-Saadi, 18, from the Jenin refugee camp, was critically injured after soldiers shot him with a live round in the abdomen.
The youth was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at Ibn Sina Specialist Hospital in Jenin, where efforts to save his life failed, the Ministry of Health confirmed in a statement.
The Ministry added that soldiers shot a young man in the chest with live ammunition, causing moderate wounds, in addition to three others who sustained minor wounds.
All casualties were transferred to hospitals in Jenin for medical intervention, their identities were not known at the time of this report.
Sources added that soldiers opened fire at an ambulance and denied access to journalists, hindering their ability to provide media coverage of the scene.
Sources added that the army detained a wounded Ratib al-Bali after they besieged and bombed his family home, forcing him to surrender. Some sources stated that al-Bali had been shot, however the nature of his wounds were not available at the time of this report due to his detention by the occupation forces.
Mourners gathered in front of the Ibn Sina Specialist Hospital, and carried the body of the slain young man through the streets of Jenin city, to the Jenin refugee camp where his body was laid to rest.
The funeral procession was attended by fellow classmates at Hashad Secondary School in addition to dozens of Palestinian resistance fighters.
